Immerse yourself in the practice and science of pranayama. This intensive will draw from Swami Kripalu’s and Kripalu Yoga teachers’ interpretations of the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, a guide to hatha yoga practice written by fifteenth-century sage Swatmarama.

With the guidance of an experienced teacher, you will develop a solid foundation in the practice of pranayama and cultivate a deeper understanding of the importance of pranayama in the yogic path. You will learn a variety of pranayama techniques, practice the bandhas (locks), and gain an understanding of the Shat Kriyas and their role in the physical and energetic purification process. Experiment with ways to incorporate these practices into a deep spiritual practice and learn teaching methodologies for safely sharing them with students.

Yoga teachers and advanced practitioners from all traditions are welcome.

For: yoga teachers from all traditions, bodyworkers, mental health professionals, Kripalu DansKinetics instructors, Ayurvedic lifestyle consultants, and other helping and teaching professions.

In this workshop, we will move beyond thinking about professional ethics as a set of moralistic admonitions. Instead, we will explore ethics as a process of self-discovery and growth that enhances one’s sense of well-being, improves the quality of care and teaching delivered, reduces the risk of burn-out, and leads to efficient and profitable business practices – while maintaining our primary commitment to foster a safe and sacred environment for our students and clients for experiential inquiry on the deepest level.

In this program, we will:

  • Learn how transference, counter-transference, and projection can influence our ethical behavior

  • Explore our responsibility to hold safe and sacred space when our students and clients enter non-ordinary states of consciousness

  • Participate in lively group discussions around Kylea Taylor’s The Ethics of Caring, with the opportunity to confidentially share personal stories as professionals

  • Network and simply be with peers in a nonjudgmental environment.

Required reading: Kylea Taylor’s The Ethics of Caring.
