Yoga is the Sanskrit word which means
to unite or make whole. The practice
combines the use of asana (postures), pranayam
(breathing), meditation, and other relaxation
techniques. On a physical level, yoga
will strengthen and stretch muscles, increase
circulation and energy, improve balance,
strengthen and align joints, and enhance
the immune system. On a mental level,
yoga reduces stress and fatigue, enhances
body awareness and respect for the body,
increases self acceptance, and quiets us
to a state where we can recognize what really
matters in the world and to ourselves.
